Fulfilling A Passion…Doing What I Love
Hi, I’m Lisa Phillips, founder and owner of Study Buddies LLC. Education has been my world for the past 15 years. I’m a former elementary school teacher, turned full-time mom and private tutor. Nothing fills my cup more than helping kids reach those “aha” moments and seeing that lightbulb go off in their incredible, little brains.
I’m a proud boy mom to three fabulous kiddos- ages 6, 3 & 6 months, and my amazingly supportive husband is my best friend. We’ve lived in Norwood, MA for over a decade, along with our pup – our first baby, of course! In my spare time you can find me at the athletic fields (cheering on my boys) or planning our next family excursion.
I feel so fortunate to be doing what I love…every single day! Running an educational company while raising my boys is a dream come true. I know I have the best of both worlds.
Thanks for stopping by – I look forward to welcoming you and your child to the Study Buddies family!

Emily, M. Ed.
Hi, I’m Emily! I earned my BA from Westfield State University and hold a Master’s in Education. I am dually certified as a special education teacher as well as teaching English as a second language.
I truly enjoy working with children of all ages. In my younger years, I was a camp counselor. This taught me a great lesson- as a teacher, it’s important to create engagement in the classroom while also building strong connections with my students. I have now been a teacher for 15 years.
When not in the classroom, I love to travel, ride my bike, and go to the beach with my family. Hiking, camping, and all outdoor activities are a large part of my life.
Fun fact…I just recently learned how to be a beekeeper! I currently live in Millis, MA.

Liz, M. Ed.
Hi! I’m Liz. I’ve been an elementary teacher for 18 years. I currently teach second grade, but I have experience teaching all elementary grade levels.
I majored in Elementary Education at Stonehill College and went on to Framingham State University where I earned my Master’s Degree.
I enjoy the 1:1 aspect of tutoring. I strive to help each student find the tools they need to succeed and develop a love for learning.
When I’m not teaching, I’m spending time with my family. I’m a mom of two so you can usually find me at the playground or soccer field! I live in Norwood, MA with my husband and kids.

Annie, M. Ed.
My name is Annie. I received my undergraduate degree in elementary education and my master’s degree in teaching English as a second language. I have been an elementary teacher for the past eight years.

When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my two dogs. I live in Walpole, MA with my husband.

Sam, M. Ed.
I’m Sam! From a young age, I knew I wanted a career working with children. While studying elementary education and political science at Simmons College, I worked as an after-school and substitute teacher. That small bit of teaching experience solidified my love for education.
Soon after, I received my Masters Degree in Elementary Education, also from Simmons College. Since then, I have taught many elementary grades in Massachusetts and Florida, most recently teaching fourth grade in Newton Public Schools for the past seven years.
After stepping away from the classroom to spend more time with my two young girls, I knew I still wanted to teach in some way! Tutoring has given me the opportunity to connect with students, help them in all academic areas and watch their excitement when we learn together. I love creating sessions that fit each individual, using hands-on materials, and incorporating students’ interests into each lesson plan.
In my free time, I love to walk my dogs, go on runs, and do crafts with my two girls. I currently live in Medfield, MA with my husband and my daughters.

In my free time I enjoy reading and going for walks. I currently live in Norwood, Massachusetts with my family.

While enrolled in this Masters program, I created a Learning Pod for six kindergarten and first grade students to adapt to Covid-19’s online learning format. Since then, I have been teaching 4th and 5th grade ELA at Saint John School in Canton. I absolutely love it!
One of my favorite parts about teaching is building relationships with students and encouraging them to believe in themselves, both inside and outside of the classroom. Teaching has always been my passion, and I am so excited to be working with Study Buddies!
In my free time, I love to be active and spend time outside. I currently live in Canton, MA with my family and our dog, Briggs.

Julia, M. Ed.
My name is Julia, and I’m excited to be tutoring at Study Buddies! I come from three generations of teachers and always knew I wanted to pursue a profession in education. I earned a B.S.E at Westfield State College and my M.E.D at UMass Boston. I am also ESL certified.
I am currently a 3rd grade teacher in Norwood. I’m lucky enough to say that it is fun going to work. Seeing the world open up to a child through learning is exciting, and I get to do this as my “job.”
My goal as a teacher is to create a learning environment where students take risks, ask questions, gain confidence, and feel successful!
In my free time, I enjoy watching my sons play baseball, camping, hiking with my two dogs, and horseback riding. I have a passion for theater and try to share this love with my students. I grew up in Norfolk and currently live in Franklin.

Krista, B.A.
Hi, I’m Krista! I started my journey in early childhood education in 2005 when my son was attending a parent co-op preschool. I had so much fun helping in his class, serving on the school board, and being a part of that environment that I knew I had found my calling!
I started as an assistant teacher in the 2.9 year old class, then moved to the PreK class a few years later, and eventually was the Assistant Director, as well as a PreK teacher at the school. I also spent time working and volunteering in integrated preschool classrooms and public school Kindergarten classes.
Prior to becoming a preschool teacher, I attended Tufts University, studied abroad in Barcelona, worked as a VISTA Volunteer, and as a property manager, before becoming a mom.
I live in Walpole with my husband, 2 children, and dog. We have been here for over 20 years. In my free time, I enjoy reading, walking my dog at Bird Park, and traveling.

Carol, M. Ed.
Hi! I’m Carol. I am a certified reading specialist and elementary teacher. I have been teaching for over twenty five years. Teaching children to read and write skillfully and confidently has always been my passion. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I even started my own little school in my parents’ basement when I was twelve! And it’s only gotten better from there!
I earned my BA in Elementary Education from Lesley University. I knew from the very beginning of my teaching career that I wanted to become more specialized in education, so I pursued my first Master’s in Reading from Columbia University and my second Ed.M from Harvard University School of Education.
When I am not spending time with my students I can usually be found with my nose in a great book! I love mysteries the best!

Sue, M. Ed.
Hi, I’m Sue! I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College and my Master’s in Education from UMASS Boston. I’ve worked in education for nearly 20 years and am certified in Special Education, English and English as a Second Language.
I currently work as the lead teacher of a public-school’s language based learning program where I help 8th graders on all their core academic subjects, as well as fundamental reading and writing skills.
I’m Level 1 certified with the Wilson Reading Program and truly love helping students get those reading fundamentals that are so key for life-long learning.
In my free time, my elementary school age kids keep me busy with their sports and activities. I love to read and have been in the same book club for 14 years – we’ve read hundreds of books together. I also like trying to walk as many different streets as possible in my town of Walpole.

Hayley, M. Ed.
Hi! I’m Hayley, a former SLPA turned early childhood teacher. I received my bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State in education with a concentration in communication disorders. I worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant for 7 years in a preschool setting before getting my master’s degree in early childhood education. For the past 7 years, I have worked as both a general education and special education teacher from Kindergarten – 2nd grade!
As I enter my 15th year in education, I am excited to co-teach a Kindergarten classroom. Early childhood has always been a passion of mine, and I love working and collaborating with my colleagues to provide our students with the best education and experience possible.
At home, I have 2 daughters that keep my husband and me very busy! We live in Franklin, MA with our 2 dogs. In our free time, we love to camp, do arts & crafts, and can often be found at the soccer or softball fields.

Darlene, M. Ed.
Hello, I’m Darlene. I earned my BA in Elementary Education and English from the University of Rhode Island and have my Master’s in Special Education from Endicott College. I have been teaching Elementary School for 18 years. For the past 13 years, I have taught 3rd grade in Norwood.
I work really hard to create a caring and trusting classroom environment. I want my students to feel comfortable to take risks and realize that they can achieve their goals. I strive to build strong relationships with my students and love watching them grow throughout the year.
When I am not teaching, you can find me with my husband and my two little girls. We love to be outdoors! We do a lot of hiking, kayaking, and camping. We also love to play board games and read. We live in Foxboro.

Erin, M.A.T.
My name is Erin, and I am a high school English teacher. I have been teaching for ten years. Teaching writing and developing critical thinking skills are two areas that I believe are integral in fostering student success.
Throughout my ten years of teaching, I have worked with many students to brainstorm, draft, and polish college essays. For me, it is critical to provide students with the support they need to develop an authentic piece of writing that reflects who they are as an individual.
I have an undergraduate degree in English, with a minor in History, from Providence College and a Master’s in Teaching from Simmons University.
If I am not in the classroom or coaching swimming, I love to spend time outside with my family and dog.

Lauren, M. Ed.

Working with students and helping them make progress with their learning is the best job ever! I have taught grades 3, 4, and 5 as an inclusion teacher over the last four years. I enjoy finding material that interests my students so that learning is enjoyable for them. My happiest teaching moments are when students recognize their accomplishments and feel proud of themselves!
I earned my Master of Education in Special Education from American International College and my B.S. in Marketing from the University of Rhode Island. I hold 3 teaching licenses: Special Education, Elementary Grades 1-6, and Early Childhood PreK-2.
